Equipment Sanitizing and Deodorizing
Complete set of Equipment, only $21.99!
No-Icing Sports offers a revolutionary service...
How come I never heard of this before?

Sanitization and odor removal is revolutionary to hockey. Who would have thought that you could drop by a hockey shop and in less than 20 minutes have the equipment sanitized and foul odors removed from your complete set of hockey equipment for less than $22! No more soaking equipment in the tub, and waiting days for it to dry, or going to one of those expensive wash places.

No-Icing Sports offers a fast, no wear and tear sanitizing and deodorizing treatment service for your hockey equipment. Some have confused our process with the expensive wash/dry "Esporta" service they've seen advertised. We are very different, we are fast (while you wait), inexpensive, and there is no risk of damage to your equipment.

Our sani and deodorizing process is unique. It's an all-dry process that literally kills the bacteria and fungus that is living in your equipment, the nasty stuff that causes itching, rashes and infections. At the same time it will eliminate the foul odors your family, friends and teammates are always complaining about.

During the first stage of our treatment process, your equipment is placed in a sealed compartment and totally vaporized with ozone gas. There is no washing, no water, and no drying. This stage of our process is very similar to that used by hospitals to sanitize operating rooms, by health clubs, and used by smoke removal companies to take smoke smells out of fire damaged home furniture. It's a proven method to kill bacteria and remove odors. This step is followed by a complete "fogging" of the equipment with an all natural deodorizer and bacteria shield which helps keep new bacteria from forming during future skates.

Lastly, our treatment includes a pleasant smelling all-natural fragrance. Yes, hockey equipment can smell good!

Our process is safe, effective and beneficial for your skin. Be wary of imposters and gimmicks. Our treatment is NOT a MASKING scent, we actually kill the harmfull bacteria that is causing the odors. Ozone is the best method for killing bacteria, yes, even better than washing with detergents and bleach. It is also one of the most effective ways to kill the deadly MRSA, Staff and "Super Bug" bacteria. MRSA is a single cell bacteria that ozone blows away!

Why us? Well, you may have heard about "Esporta", or read about it in the hockey newspapers. While Esporta will sanitize your equipment, we believe for most hockey players it's not conveinent and just too expensive. In addition, wet washing is not good for your equipment in so many ways.

First though, let's look at conveinence. No-Icing Sports is not a part-time business, we are here 6 days a week, ready when you are, morning, noon, and night. During your lunch break, after work, whenever! No drop boxes, no picking up, no next day or 6-hr waits. We'll have you in and out with sweet smelling gear in less than 20 minutes.

Now, compare us with the "typical" Esporta service. For them, you usually have to drop your equipment off at a "drop zone", like a rink. (BTW, how many rink pro shops do you know that are open at 11 am on a weekday). Nevertheless, you have to come back the next business day to pick it up. What a hassle! Let's say though you need your equipment deodorized quick, perhaps for a game that night, or you are just heading for a tourney and want to get the smell out for the ride. Well, some Esporta operators may offer a 2-hr "rush" service. Be aware though, if you plan to head to the rink after picking it up, or even just want to throw it in your trunk for a game later that night, that the equipment will still be partially wet when you get it. Not a good thing. Any moisture left in the equipment will make you cold at the rink, it will freeze if left in your car, it will cause the equipment to wear quicker, and it also provides an atmosphere for new bacteria growth.

Our process is fast, less than 20 minutes, and in most cases can be done while you wait. This short wait goes by fast while you are browsing in our shop at the latest hockey equipment and accessories.

The "wash" services have other drawbacks other than the time to get your equipment back and the hassle of going back to pick it up. The biggest negative is they are just too expensive, $45 plus ... and in many cases, that DOESN'T include skates, helmet or bag. Those will run you $20 more. Most hockey players won't pay that kind of money, they'd rather wash it themselves, save $60, and the hassle of making two trips to go get it done. However, No-Icing Sports makes it easy, one trip to our shop, we do it WHILE YOU WAIT, and for less than $20 for a COMPLETE set of equipment! We don't charge you extra for bags, helmets and skates. In fact, whatever we can fit in the machine is one low price.

Lastly, another reason we don't recommend the wash process is that it just doesn't make sense to wet wash and use any heat to dry your leather gloves, your skates, helmet and synthetic leather equipment. Washing can loosen glues and breakdown fibres in equipment, and accelerate rust on your helmet hardware, skate rivets, eyelets and blades. Here's what one major hockey equipment manufacturer has to say about washing,.... "DO NOT submerge any item in water because item will most likely not be able to dry properly. Moist areas, that do not dry properly can form bacteria and mildew. Shrinkage is more likely to occur on soaked items as well. A washing machine is not recommended as water pressure can cause premature separation of coatings on external materials." "Equipment should be air dried at room temperature. "DO NOT use heat to dry equipment as this can cause premature, unseen damage to the surface materials and internal padding which will excelerate wear."

Our service has absolutely no wear and tear. It comes out of the machine EXACTLY how it went in, minus the odors and bacteria of course. It's not wet, and water is not trapped inside the equipment waiting to foster growth of new bacteria.

  Odor Facts
It is true that sweat is odorless. However, bacteria from our bodies feeds off sweat. Once they consume the sweat, they do what any living creature on earth does: they defecate… Yup, you guessed it; odors are the smell of bacteria excrement! Well, not exactly... but the process does produce those foul odors

Frequent wearing of un-treated equipment allows sweat and bacteria to build up. Moisture helps refresh odors because it rehydrates the particles. This provides a feast for the body odor producing bacteria to feed upon.

If equipment is not dried immediately, bacteria will multiply rapidly. The temperature range at which bacteria grows best is between 45-140 deg. F

Skates and gloves are closed end garments, they do not air dry well and are a haven for bacteria growth

Feet and Hands have the highest number of sweat glands per square inch. Glands in the genital area produce different proteins and fats which encourage the growth of bacteria.

A single service treats a complete set of equipment including skates, helmet, pads, gloves and bag (except for huge goalie wheel bags, extra charges might apply). Our service takes less than 20 minutes! Try it, you won't be dissapointed.

We can sanitize and deodorize most anything!

Our process also works great on other types of sporting equipment; football, ski boots, ski jackets, running shoes, wet suits, martial arts equipment, bullet proof vests, sleeping bags, motorcycle helmets and more. Recently a customer brought in a set of hockey equipment that the family cat had been using as a substitute for a litter box! It was a challenge, but our machine removed all the nasty odors! We tried to get him to write a testimonial, but we don't think he wants anyone to know his name. Hard to believe he actually played a game in that stuff the day before he came in!! Call for pricing on unique items. (Note: we may have to charge EXTRA for cat urine, man did that stuff stink. :-)

Please try to air dry your equipment overnight before treatment. Our process does work well on soaking wet gear but for superior results it should be mostly dry.

Facts About Ozone

WHAT IS OZONE? Ozone is NOT a spray! Ozone is a gas. Gases can penetrate any porous object, making them perfect for reaching deep inside hockey equipment. Because gaseous ozone is highly reactive, it readily oxidizes (breaks down) organic matter. When the ozone encounters another compound, one oxygen atom will break away, attach itself to the compound, and oxidize it. Ozone actually breaks down odor-causing compounds, thereby eliminating the odor and changing the ozone back to oxygen (O2). Ozone is the second most powerful sterlilant in the world and its function is to destroy bacteria, viral and odors. Ozone occurs quite readily in nature most often as a result of lightning strikes that occur during thunderstorms. In fact that "fresh, clean, spring rain" smell that we notice after a storm results from nature’s creation of ozone.

HOW DOES OZONE WORK? Ozone kills bacteria by rupturing the cell wall of the offending organism. This action kills the bacteria leaving only harmless waste. After an ozone treatement, the bacteria is destroyed, not left dormant to resurect the odors.

Some of our competetors are putting out false information about ozone on their websites. They claim that Ozone is a spray and that it is ineffective, and that it is dangerous and that it damages your equipment. Folks, ozone is used to clean your drinking water, to clean your pools, to clean the air, and to kill harmfull bacteria and pathogens in a variety of processes, including emergency rooms, hotels, theatres, day cares, nursing homes, office buildings, restoration companies and more!

Bacteria, viruses and other pathogens thrive around us and in our hockey equipment. Because the membranes which protect these microbes are constructed with carbon-chain molecules, they are a prime target for the free-radicals produced from ozone. Ozone attacks the microorganisms like a shotgun, bursting their membranes and spilling their contents. The destruction is virtually instant. Ozone annihilates bacteria and viruses 3,000 times faster than chlorine, to many considered a strong disinfectant. Since we know that it is the bacteria that is causing the odors in your equipment, ozone is perfect for this deodorizing process. Competetors may claim that ozone doesn't "wash" away the bacteria, therefore it is ineffective, buy they don't understand how ozone works. The plain truth is, ozone completely destroys the bacteria. There is nothing to wash away.

Yes, it is true ozone gas in very LARGE quantities and prolonged exposure can be dangerous to humans, however, all the ozone gas used in our process is completely neutralized at the end of our machine's cycle. Despite the propaganda you may read on some Esporta operator sites about ozone, you will be happy to know that you, or the operator is never exposed to any ozone and are not in any danger whatsoever. They are just trying to scare you with generic EPA warnings about ozone that have nothing to do with hockey equipment sanitizing machines.

Lastly, it is true ozone can break down fibres and rubber, however, it would take MONTHS of CONTINOUS exposure before this would happen. Your equipment is only exposed to ozone for 12 minutes, at less concentration levels that are found in in the air after a thunderstorm. Still, even if you got your equipment sanitized once a month for life, it would not be exposed to enough ozone to break down any of your equipment. On the other hand, washing your equipment can break it down with every wash. Just look at your lint trap in your washer and dryer. Simply put, the stuff in there is a result of breakdown. You don't get this with ozone treatments.

As for endorsements, our deodorizing machine is the only sanitizer endorsed by the NHL and is owned by numerous NHL teams, including the Boston Bruins. Important to note, the Bruins didn't purchase an Esporta to handle their player's equipment problems. Lastly, just because an ex-NHL player's dad endorses the wash systems doesn't mean a thing. Remember, he's getting paid to endorse the product.

Here's some comments about our process from NHL head equipment managers who have and use a machine like ours. These are not paid endorsements.

Referring to Joe Thornton of the Boston Bruins, and the fact that he has been victimized by serious STAPH infections a number of times, Peter Henderson said: “We bought the machine specifically to try and prevent this type of injury from happening to Joe. It’s been great since we got the Sani Sport in November, he’s had no issues like he used to have”.

Rip Simonick of the Sabres described the Sani Sport as the “main reason for a very significant reduction in skin rashes, infections, etc”. He also noted that because the bacteria was eliminated and not eating away at the equipment, the life span and performance of the equipment was greatly improved.

Doug Shearer of the Capitals maintains that his “players love it and recognize the importance of clean gear in terms of injury prevention”.

Peter Millar of the Kings states that “Bacteria thrives in moisture and heat and we might have been accelerating that process by washing and fan drying our equipment. The Sani Sport has been an excellent addition to our dressing room. We want to be pro active and cut the risk. It’s my job to make sure my players are as protected as possible”.
